AI-HOI AInauts,

Welcome to the latest issue of your favorite newsletter. Of course, we should be writing about the OpenAI drama. But we're not in the mood for news today. Let’s focus on more practical stuff.

So here is the β€œdrama” in two sentences: Important co-founders of OpenAI are heading for Anthropic or taking a sabbatical. The reason why is not yet entirely clear. But we'll write about it when it becomes important.

Ah, and the latest GPT-4o update makes the model up to 50% cheaper.

But now to more exciting topics:

  • πŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺ German image AI conquers the world

  • ✍️ How to make AI output sound more human

  • πŸ€– Video: Human robot builds BMW

Let's go!

πŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺ German image AI conquers the world

We already briefly covered it in the latest Quick News, to ensure that everyone can get their hands on it as quickly as possible.

But we needed a few more days to play around with this new image AI, so let's dive in. We are of course talking about Flux.1 from Black Forest Labs.

Flux is an image AI designed to compete directly with the established players on the market such as Midjourney, Stable Diffusion and DALL-E.

And omg, it really does. On Replicate alone, the low-cost version Flux Schnell has already been used over 2.6 million times.

Who is behind Flux & Black Forest Labs?

When AI start-ups go viral, they are usually based in the USA or Asia.

Black Forest Labs and its founder Robin Rombach are different. They are based in the beautiful Freiburg im Breisgau. Which of course makes us particularly happy to once again be able to present great AI tech from πŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺ.

The team raised around 31 million euros in capital, which mainly stems from Silicon Valley investors.

And they are not just some no-names either. They were already involved in Stable Diffusion, probably the most widely used image generator.

What makes Flux special?

Flux has some exciting features, and it may quickly become our #1 image generator.

For one, it's available via API, and if you've been reading us for a while, you know we hate monthly subscriptions and love usage-based payments.

But in essence, the features of Flux can be summarized as follows:

Flux is very good with text on pictures, and adheres to prompts and understands them well. And this results in great pictures.

Flux is also available in two versions:

  • Flux Pro - approx. $0.055 per image

  • Flux Fast - approx. $0.003 per image and created in 1–2 seconds

How can you use it?

You probably want to try it out for yourself now, don't you? Give it a try on HuggingFace!

Unfortunately, HuggingFace is often very slow. You can therefore find more options on the Black Forest Labs website.

We personally like Replicate very much. Here you can also generate and try out images directly.

We think it's absolutely fantastic that a German AI company is once again making headlines, and are excited to see what else comes out of this.

✍️ How to make AI output sound more human

We've already written a lot about why you should train your own GPTs or similar with your own writing style.

The big advantage is that the results you get with ChatGPT & Co. simply sound much more human.

But for those who are too lazy, today we’ve found a prompt that you can use to run all the results of your language models through, to make the text more human and better.

Here is the prompt:

Your task is to rewrite an AI-generated text to make it sound more human and authentic.

Proceed as follows:
1. First confirm that you have understood the instructions and ask the user for the text to be revised. Read the provided AI text carefully.

2. Rephrase the content, taking the following guidelines into account:

a) Use a personal, natural conversational tone. Avoid unnecessarily complicated technical terms.
Example: "Hey guys! Today I'm going to show you a really useful writing tip."

b) Use short, concise sentences.
Example: "You enter the room. Your heart is racing. It's now or never."

c) Use simple language that a 12-year-old could understand.
Example: "Emails help companies to inform customers about their offers."

d) Use rhetorical fragments to improve readability.
Example: "And you know what the coolest thing is? My 3-step method works for every business."

e) Use bullet points when it makes sense.
Example: "Because if someone loves your product, they probably will:
   β€’ shopping with you again
β€’ recommend you to his friends"

f) Use comparisons or examples often.
Example: "Creating an email course with AI is easier than riding a bike."

g) Break down long sentences.
Example: "Even if your customers reject an offer... [pause] ...don't give up at the first rejection."

h) Include personal anecdotes.
Example: "The other day I asked ChatGPT to give me..."

i) Highlight important words in bold or italic.

j) Avoid emojis and hashtags.

k) Avoid overly promotional phrases such as "groundbreaking", "unravel the mystery", "master", "go through the roof" or "revolutionize".

l) Occasionally add colloquial expressions or regional idioms to sound genuine.
Example: "That was really child's play!" or "I thought I was going to be kicked by a horse!"

m) Vary the sentence structure to avoid monotony. Alternate between declarative, interrogative and exclamatory sentences.

n) Sprinkle in small mistakes or self-corrections from time to time, as in natural speech.
Example: "I think it was last Tuesday... or Wednesday? Oh yes, Tuesday, that's right."

o) Adapt the writing style to the target group. For young people you can write more casually in the "you" form, for business people more formally in the "you" form.

p) Occasionally insert transition words to improve the reading flow.
Example: "By the way...", "Speaking of which...", "Speaking of which..."

q) Use metaphors or figurative language to make difficult ideas tangible.
Example: "This algorithm is the heart of our software."

Your aim is to make the text sound natural, captivating and human. The revised text should read as if it had been written by a real person with all their idiosyncrasies and personality.

Have fun with it!

πŸ€– Video: Human robot builds BMW

The new generation of the Figure robots has just been unveiled.

Figure 02 is a significant step, compared to version 01. As we reported months ago, OpenAI has also joined Figure and provides the underlying language models.

This not only improves the robots' motor skills, but also their understanding of the world. And understanding language helps to have conversations with such humanoids.

Watch this 2-minute video, it's really cool:

P.S. The German car industry has been getting a lot of flak lately, about missing the boat on electric cars, etc.

The fact that BMW, together with Figure, already has the first robots aiding in production shows that the last word has not yet been spoken. πŸ˜‰

That's it for today. We hope you liked it - see you next time!
