😁 At last! Photoshop for the lazy
PLUS: The new Gamma is awesome
Hello AInauts,
Welcome to the latest issue of your favorite newsletter!
Today, we have plenty of stuff for anyone that wants to be more creative and faster when it comes to the field of image editing - with some really practical use cases.
Here's what we have in store for you:
🔥 Wow! Gemini brings Photoshop for the lazy ...
🪄 Image FX - How easy it is to create funny pictures
🤯 Gamma is awesome! Websites, slides, socials with AI
🏴☠️ Black Mirror - not for the faint-hearted ...
🌝 AI-Fun: Moon landing? A lie! Bread horse? Masterpiece!
Here we go!
🔥 Wow! Gemini brings Photoshop for the lazy ...
While OpenAI and Meta are still outbidding each other with hot air and new announcements, Google has simply released Gemini 2.0 Flash, an experiment that can generate and edit images - directly in Google AI Studio via chat or via the Gemini API. For us who have never learned Photoshop, this is a really helpful tool for daily business!
It's fantastic, completely free, and you should try it out - here you go: https://aistudio.google.com

What we find particularly cool:
Conversational image editing - simply editing an existing image via chat has worked rather poorly so far. With Gemini, this is not yet perfect, but very promising.
Consistent styles and characters - consistency is a weak point of many other AI generators. With Gemini, scenes are generated in great detail and even text is rendered correctly!
Extended context - with a 1 million token context window, Gemini can now capture many more contexts.
Direct API connection - developers can integrate the model into their applications at
gemini-2.0-flash-exp
. Nice one, thanks Google!
Possible areas of application for Gemini 2.0 Flash
This opens up a wide range of use cases for marketers, content creators and developers - either on the platform itself or via API integration in existing tools. For example:
Generation of individual social media visuals
Automatic creation of product mock-ups (examples here)
Development of corporate design elements with a uniform style
Illustrated short stories or comics with consistent characters
Concept creation and storyboards for film and animation, ...
Creation of UI mock-ups based on a simple description
Conversion of wireframes into appealing designs
Possible prompts to try out and combine:
"Add an object." → Elements are inserted realistically.
"Remove the watermarks." → *Retouches watermarks from stock images.
"Zoom out and expand." → Expands the view in all directions.
"Make it more dramatic." → Immediately more intense mood.
"Turn this into pixel art." → Automatic conversion to 8-bit style.
... and of course you can also simply combine this in a prompt …

Example of a prompt with various customizations
But why use stock images and enter a legal gray area when you can simply take an image as inspiration and generate a similar image based on it??

Newly generated image, based on the original image
Here is the example prompt used for this.
Divide this image into an imaginary vertical grid of 5 elements (keep the aspect ratio!) and label each element and the whole image. Then create a very similar image from it (IMPORTANT: make sure there is no watermark on the image).
Let's stick to practical examples: You can even create a complete invitation to the next event with a single prompt! Wow, that really surprised us.

One Shot Prompt!
Design a beautiful 16:9 horizontal invitation poster with a dark background for a carnival. Large, bold font with matching visuals for the carnival theme.
Come to our carnival - an unforgettable afternoon! With games, music, food and art crafting.
📅 Date: Saturday, March 22 - 🕑 Time: 14:00 - 22:00
📍 Venue: In the Green Park - Please confirm by March 18.
Our take: Thank you, Google, for making our lives easier!
Google has once again shown that they are way ahead in the AI league, and we have been experimenting with it for (too) long. It's really fun!
The only downside: if you want to turn pictures of your kids into superheroes, Gemini refuses to help.
But if you have anything to do with AI-supported design, animation or content creation, you should definitely take a closer look.
The free experimentation phase is the best time to familiarize yourself with the technology before it possibly disappears behind a paywall.
🪄 Image FX - How easy it is to create funny images
Let's stay with Google for a moment: Do you already know ImageFX from Google Labs? Imagine you have a brilliant image idea, but your artistic skills are limited to stick figures?
This is where ImageFX comes to the rescue and transforms your text descriptions into impressive images. Unfortunately, this digital artist does not yet have a Schengen visa and is not allowed in the EU. But with a VPN and US IP address, you're in!
We wanted to know what our Nauti mascot would look like, made of potato chips or candy floss - and it really makes you want more.
You can try it out here: https://labs.google/fx/tools/image-fx

Here are the prompts we used for this. You can simply put them into the chatbot of your choice and ask for 10, 20 or 30 alternative variants for your desired object.
An astronaut made of potato chips, crisp and golden. Body is stacked with ridged chips. A few salt crystals catch the light. Glossy little eyes add personality. Soft, neutral background so the chip-astronaut really pops. Hyperrealistic lighting, a touch of warmth-like it's fresh out of the bag.
----
A fluffy astronaut spun from pink and blue cotton candy. Wisps of sugar float around its body, making it look light as air. The helmet is a crystallized sugar dome, slightly translucent and shimmering with a pastel glow. The background is a whimsical candy-colored sky, like a dreamscape from a fairytale world.
For comparison: the results of the same prompts directly in Google AI Studio. 😁

🤯 Gamma is awesome! Websites, slides, socials with AI
Ok, let's stick to the visual possibilities.
You may already be familiar with Gamma. It allows you to create slides, websites, documents, etc. with the help of AI. This is nothing new per se, but in recent weeks the popular app has added a few cool features and is actually getting better and better.
1) Import any website and rebuild it with AI
This is a big deal! You can simply enter a URL and Gamma will generate a page with the same (or customized) content. You have the option to customize all elements - from layout, tables, graphics, text and images.
Furthermore, you can then publish it directly to Gamma or, with the Pro plan, to your own domain. This is a good option for less technically experienced users in particular, for example to easily migrate and upgrade old legacy websites.

2) Finally: Export slides directly to Google Slides!
You can now also save all generated content directly in Google Slides format. This is super practical, as it eliminates the previous PDF to PPT process.
And another little pro tip: If you want to remove the "Made with Gamma" logo, you can go into the master slides in Google Slides and remove it there.

3) Create social media designs
You can now also create designs for social media directly, in all common sizes - and publish them directly on LinkedIn if you wish.

Our take: Just try it out, you'll work up an appetite while eating!
Gamma really is one of those tools that deserves a place in your tech stack if you regularly need to create content that is also visually appealing. Just try it yourself and get inspired, have fun!
🏴☠️ Black Mirror - not for the faint-hearted ...
Finally, an important announcement for anyone concerned with the possible effects of technology: the new trailer for Black Mirror #7 is here, and the whole season is coming to Netflix on April 10.
After what feels like an eternity, there are not only disturbing visions of the future again, but also the very first sequel to an episode! Yes, you read that right: "USS Callister" is getting a sequel.
If you remember, that was the episode in which a sadistic video game programmer locks his colleagues in a sci-fi simulation. And now? Well, the crew is returning - and we bet they're plotting revenge.
No matter what happens: we bet it will be absolutely (nightmarish).
Incidentally, we had a check carried out to see how far the development has progressed and what has already become reality 🙀 …
🌝 AI-Fun: Moon landing? A lie! Bread horse? Masterpiece!
Moon landing? Clearly fake. But a two-meter high bread horse? 100% real!
We made it! But no need to be sad. The AInauts will be back soon, with new stuff for you.
