โ๏ธ Perplexity Comet - der beste Browser-Assistent?
The Perplexity team is going full throttle! First, they make a (probably not entirely serious) offer to buy Google Chrome for a mere $34.5 billion, and then they release Comet, which reinvents browser use for us knowledge workers.
Practical test: What can Comet really do?
As we write this post, Comet is running in the corner of our eye, diligently processing tickets for a customer test project!
The task in brief: Find tickets related to subscriptions, change customer data in WooCommerce, adjust subscriptions and invoices, add notes to the ticket, close it, move on to the next one. And with a little guidance and supervision from us, the whole process is already running smoothly!

Example of how the assistant processes tickets
And that's just one possible use case. The Chromium-based Comet Browser can do much more: email management, travel bookings, extracting data from tabs, calendar and event management, web and video summaries, forms, comparison and research. And thanks to the voice feature, you can also talk directly to the assistant.
This positions Comet as a competitor to Google (Project Mariner), Microsoft (Edge Copilot Mode), and OpenAI (ChatGPT Agentโsoon to be available with its own browser)โas well as newcomers such as Dia and Leo from Brave.
Amid all the euphoria, however, we must not forget the issue of data protection and Perplexity's business interests. They don't always play with a clean deck... But at least the Cover Your Tracks tool confirms strong protection against web tracking, ads, and invisible trackers (even better than our regular browser).
How to use Comet
Well, to use Comet otuside of the US, we have to overcome a few hurdles:
Comet is currently available by invitation only (even without a Pro subscription) and for all Pro users in the US.
Pro subscribers: Activate your VPN with a US IP address and try downloading the browser here (if necessary, turn off location services) and using it. (Let us know if it works for you!)
Free users: Join the waiting list here. You can also purchase a Perplexity Pro subscription for $20 and then try using a US IP address.
By the way, there are some interesting deals online.
Our take: A tool that really looks promising! โญโญโญโญโ
You have to give Perplexity credit for one thing: they are not afraid of the big players. Because whoever controls the browser controls the gateway to the internet! The future no longer revolves around a search bar, but around a conversation with an intelligent agent.
And we have already tested several browser-based agents, such as the Operator and then the Agent from ChatGPT, or Genspark, Chat-LLM, etc. But this is the first time that it is really helpful for a real task and actually saves us work instead of creating it!
Sure, there will definitely be WTF moments where the browser gets stuck in loops and doesn't do what it's supposed to... but our first impression is: interesting for power users and routine tasks, but use with caution for critical workflows. We will continue testing and reporting!
๐ AInauten Guide: Which chatbot for which job?
Let's move on to model roulette... You're standing in front of ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini & Co. and asking yourself: "Which chatbot is best suited for the task at hand?"
We use all chatbots in parallel and in rotation, and have put together a tried-and-tested guide for you.
As of mid-August 2025 *because next this week everything will be different again.
ChatGPT โ The proven allrounder
Your go-to when: You want a solid workhorse with a broad ecosystem.
โ Extensive universe - Custom GPTs, image & video generation, voice, ...
โ Memory that works - Remembers stored memories plus chat history for more context and preferences across sessions
โ Reasoning Power - Solves complex multi-step problems
Real Talk: ChatGPT may not always be the fastest, but it is reliable.

Claude โ The specialist for code & content
Your go-to when: Quality is more important than quantity and you want clean code, precise analysis, and controlled style.
โ Style adoption - Imitates your writing style and becomes your digital ghostwriter
โ Well-thought-out answers - Less rambling, more substance - Quick answers or extended thinking as needed.
โ Coding Champion - Still at the forefront of coding and the preferred model of many developers
Insider tip: Claude from Anthropic is your coding buddy when you need it to work. For quick & dirty solutions, ChatGPT is often sufficient.
Incidentally, according to a report, Anthropic has twice as much market share in the API business as OpenAI. Wow... no wonder OpenAI has entered the fray with a competitive price for GPT-5!

Google Gemini โ Long context and workspace pro
Your go-to when: You already live in the Google ecosystem or process extensive documents
โ Monster context window - Up to 2 million tokens (โ 1.5 million words)
โ Native Google-Power - Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides nahtlos integriert
โ Multimodal understanding - Simultaneously understand and generate text, audio, video, and images
Game-changer: If you analyze 50+ page PDFs every day, Gemini is your lifesaver. And for accurate source citations and audio/video processing, use Google's NotebookLM!

Your go-to when: you need real-time international news, social media updates, and trend insights.
โ Grok 4 - Tool and live search available for Premium+ and via API.
โ Real-time intelligence โ Know what's trending on X before you even notice it.
โ Personality with bite - Can sometimes come across as cheeky or sexy
Reality check: Great for trend spotting, less so for academic research.

Perplexity - The investigative fact checker
Your go-to when: You need clean sources and verifiable answers
โ Auto quotes - Every answer comes with verified sources
โ Academic Mode - Searches academic databases
โ Deep Research - Autonomous long-term research possible
Pro-Move: More of a fast search engine than a creative ghostwriterโbut perfect for anything where you need to be able to say, "According to study XY..." later on.

Microsoft Copilot - The Office-Optimizer
Your go-to when: You are trapped in the Microsoft universe (like so many of us) and need governance, M365 integration, and admin controls.
โ Office integration - directly integrated into Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams
โ Enterprise-Ready - Governance & compliance under control, clear licensing
โ GitHub Copilot - Coding agent even creates pull requests automatically
Honestly: Solid for office warriors, as it is based on GPT โ but the add-on costs extra.

Genspark - The Swiss Army knife with all models
Your go-to when: You want more than just chat! It's an AI workspace that builds reports, slides, spreadsheets, websites, images, videos, and even podcasts. We love it!
โ Productivity suite โ AI Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Pods for content and collaboration โ the slides are really good.
โ Action Tools - Download Agent & Call For Me (unfortunately only available in the US and selected countries for now) take care of routine tasks and real phone calls - and the Genspark Browser could even replace Chrome and Co.
โ Multi-agent orchestration - Tasks are automatically distributed to specialized agents, which can conduct research, create images and videos, etc.
Insider tip: A real Swiss Army knife among AI tools. Perfect if you want to cover complete workflows with a single prompt and have access to all the important models. And the team is always shipping new and innovative features.

ChatLLM from Abacus โ Multi-model hub for all occasions for $10/month
Your go-to when: You need access to all the top LLMs, image, and video models (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, etc.) in one interface, and you want the best price.
โ All-in-One Features - Web search, chat with documents, image generation, Slack & Teams integration
โ Agents on Demand - DeepAgent for complex tasks, CodeLLM for developers
โ Value for money - From USD 10 per user per month, unbeatably affordable
All-in-one: For teams that want maximum flexibility at a low price, ChatLLM is a hub that combines the strengths and tools of the big players.

Le Chat (Mistral) - The data protection-compliant chatbot
Your go-to when: Data protection and GDPR compliance are top priorities for you!
โ EU-first approach โ server locations and data storage clearly anchored in Europe
โ Reliable chatbot - Provides quick, accurate answers - and keeps getting better
โ Enterprise options - Hybrid or on-premise for full data control
Corporate-compliant: Finally, a viable alternative for anyone who wants power without handing over data to the Americansโthe secret favorite for corporate workflows.

Our take: Experiment with all chatbots across the board!
There is no such thing as THE perfect chatbot โ that's why we often use different chatbots in parallel.
Our tip: Try out all the free versions, find your personal AI stack, and then invest specifically in the premium features that really save you time.
