AI-HOI AInauts,

Welcome to the latest issue of your favorite newsletter!

Wow, there's been a lot going on in the last few days ... Google and OpenAI are pulling their latest game changers out of the hat, an we’ll show you how to use Sora, ChatGPT AVM and Gemini 2.0.

Plus: we spent two days at a cool event where we picked up best practices on how entrepreneurs and managers can integrate AI in their companies.

Alright, that's what we've got for you today:

  • πŸŽ… Google's & OpenAI's new features to try out

  • πŸ‘¨β€πŸš€ Our top 3 AInauten GPTs for daily business

  • πŸ—½ AI Summit New York 2024 - Best practices for your AI transformation

Let's get going!

πŸŽ… Google & OpenAI: 4 new features to try out

The tech giants are going full throttle at the end of the year and are releasing features like there's no tomorrow ... Project Gemini 2.0, Astra, Mariner, Willow and the Shipmas gifts from OpenAI. A lot of it is cool, but not everything can be used yet.

So here are the updates that you can already try out:

OpenAI's Sora Video Generator - How to use it in the EU!

After the launch a week ago, there were long faces because it was no longer possible to create accounts after a few hours and access from the EU was also not allowed.

Now, however, new accounts can be created again, and with the help of a VPN you can also play around with Sora from inside the EU! So, activate the VPN with a US IP address and log in with your ChatGPT Plus account at sora.com. Have fun!

Gemini chatbot with new Deep Research feature

We confess: the Gemini chatbot has not been one of our favorites lately. But that could change now!

The latest update has brought a super cool "Deep Research" feature. The chatbot searches the web and compiles a comprehensive search with relevant sources for you. A $20/month subscription is required.

ChatGPT of course also has web access, but in direct comparison the result of Gemini is much better and more comprehensive - here is a fitness plan, for example: Gemini vs. ChatGPT, and here are some AI news compilation: Gemini vs. ChatGPT

Pro tip: The feature is currently only available in English, so you must first change the language of the chatbot to English using the parameter ?hl=en at the end of the URL: https://gemini.google.com/app?hl=en. You can then export the result to Google Docs with one click and translate it with one click (menu "Tools" β†’ "Translate Document").

Multimodal real-time streaming with Google Gemini 2.0 in AI Studio

Ok, you can use this feature for free, and it's really cool!

In Google AI Studio, you can talk directly to the new Gemini 2.0 Flash and receive an answer as audio or text. Or even better: you can share your camera or screen and ask questions!

The great thing is that you have an expert tutor or assistant for any topic! And it even works reasonably well in German. With a little creativity, you can come up with some great use cases here, and conveniently, it also works on a cell phone via a browser.

For example, we wanted to know how we could improve our pull-ups and yoga poses. Put in earplugs, activate the camera, throw yourself into a pose and get direct feedback - fantastic!

Or you can share your screen and receive live feedback here too. We had a few Sora videos described for testing purposes and had the translation function in the Google Docs menus shown to us. Well done, Google!

ChatGPT Advanced Voice Mode (AVM) with video

We've been waiting for this since the spring, and now it's finally been released. You can now send video from your phone camera directly to ChatGPT, and ChatGPT can interpret objects or environments in real time, very similar to the multimodal Gemini 2.0 feature we just talked about.

You have a partially assembled IKEA bookshelf and don't know what to do next? No problem, ChatGPT can provide step-by-step instructions on how to put it together.

This greatly increases the interactivity and effectiveness of communication with ChatGPT. But ... of course it is not available for users in the EU, and not yet for the desktop. So the same applies here: Fire up the VPN and try it out!

πŸ‘¨β€πŸš€ Our top 3 AInauten GPTs for daily business

We're already in the Christmas spirit! Reason enough to share three of our custom GPTs with you today. The headliner is our assistant Nauti, a real jack-of-all-trades.

He supports you with quick, accurate responses to emails etc., with the creation of social media posts with impact and with the preparation of meeting and video transcripts. Let's take a look at the three GPTs in detail:

  1. Nauti, write this better! Your text in, my masterpiece out. You've written an e-mail, but it doesn't quite strike the right note? No worries, Nauti will help you out and write it better. Or you want to write a quick answer to something? Yes, Nauti is always there to help.

  2. Nauti's text-to-social-media-posts-machine - enter document/text/URL and get cool social media posts with matching images! A handy helper that creates solid posts for social media in no time, including 3 images. Here is an example of our AI + Automation Accelerator program.

  3. Nauti's Transcript Transformer & Summarizer - Clean up, format and summarize content in any language. Super handy for videos, meeting recordings or your personal voice notes (you can also just activate the voice function and chat away).

We hope that Nauti will also be able to assist you in your everyday life! Have fun with it.

P.S. If the GPTs help you, and you want more of them, leave us a comment/like. We have a few more up our sleeve 😁 …

πŸ—½ AI Summit New York 2024 - Best practices for successful AI transformation in business

The AI Summit New York 2024 is in the bag! It was two super exciting days with lots of insights. Over 4,000 attendees, more than 250 speakers and 100+ exhibitors were there for the ninth year in a row.

But wait a minute... an AI Summit without OpenAI, Anthropic, Meta & Co. While the tech giants (apart from Google) were largely absent, it became clear that it's less about the next GPT version and more about tangible business transformation!

We're not going to rehash every single session, but rather give you the most exciting insights and best practices for your company in a nutshell - more details here on YouTube (... and no, those handsome gentlemen in the thumbnail are not us πŸ˜).

What should companies do to implement AI in their business?

These best practices were a recurring theme throughout the event:

  • Times are changing, fast: Jobs that use little human intelligence will soon be taken over by AI. In addition, AI will soon be integrated into all software products.

  • Opportunity rather than threat: AI is radically changing the world of work - but used correctly, it will become a turbo for productivity and innovation. The key is to see AI as support and not as a threat. And those who work with it are less skeptical.

  • Think big, start small: It is important that you prepare yourself and your teams, actively use AI, experiment a lot and solve real problems. Ten small agile projects beat one big failed one!

  • Experimentation allowed: create space ("sandbox") for creative experiments. ROI counts, but soft factors such as team satisfaction are just as crucial for sustainable success.

  • Humans + machines: The best results are achieved when humans and AI work hand in hand. At American Express, AI coding assistants have boosted productivity by 10%, which equates to 700 additional developers!

  • Transparency & security: Start lean with manageable use cases and grow sustainably. Clear communication, training and human control are success factors. Build governance and infrastructure early, develop team skills systematically, think long-term.

  • We are at the beginning: AI is progressing rapidly, but not at the same pace everywhere. 600 million people in Africa do not have reliable access to electricity - we need to solve this before AI becomes a reality there.

Our take: If you wait, you lose ground ...

The message was clear: experiment, learn, implement. But with brains and strategy, please! That may make fewer headlines - but it's exactly what companies need right now.

Instead of wild visions of the future, tangible business cases dominated the stage, according to the motto: "Less buzz, more business." The phase of exaggerated expectations is over and the real transformation can begin.

P.S. At last, a few impressions from the event - we look forward to 2025!

We made it! But no need to be sad. The AInauts will be back soon, with new stuff for you.
