PLUS: This app is your perfect digital memory for free
Hello AInauts,
Welcome to the latest issue of your favorite newsletter!
Last week was the craziest week in AI for a long time: Microsoft Build, Computex Taipei, Google I/O 2025 and Code with Claude! Google stole the show and presented over 100 cool updates. Unfortunately, Europe has once again been left behind and is not yet allowed to test many of them ... boohoo.
But we have some other exciting topics and tips for you that you can use immediately.

๐ Claude 4 is the new coding and content king
If you've been reading us for a while, you'll know that we often trust Claude with everything to do with text and code.
The Anthropic team has now released the long-awaited Claude 4 model, raising the bar even higher in certain areas!
... and this also applies to safety: the Anthropic researchers themselves have identified questionable behavior, Apollo has advised against a release and Anthropic has imposed the AI Safety Level 3 guidelines on itself.
What's new with Claude 4? The most important things in a nutshell:
Here are the most important new features at a glance.
Claude in different versions: Claude 4 Opus is the flagship for highly complex tasks, large amounts of text and in-depth logical thinking. Claude 4 Sonnet is the fast and efficient allrounder, perfect for everyday tasks - and can even be used in the free tier on Claude.ai!
Code generation par excellence: Developers take note! Claude 4, especially Opus 4, is currently considered one of the best models for coding - X is full of enthusiastic users, and the popular coding tool Cline has already found a new darling in Claude 4 Sonnet.
Extended Thinking & Tool Usage (Beta): This is exciting! Claude 4 can now switch to an "extended thinking mode" if needed to analyze more complex problems more thoroughly. Even better: the models can also use external tools (such as web search) during the thinking process. But beware: this costs extra tokens and can quickly add up!
Improved following of instructions: Claude 4 understands your prompts even more accurately and is better at remembering details from longer conversations or uploaded documents. The result: more precise and contextualized answers.
The memory upgrade: The memory file trick is ingenious: If you give Claude access to local files, key information about your project can be maintained in "memory files" (markdown or text files) and important decisions from your conversations can be recorded.
Fewer shortcuts: Models have been trained to complete tasks more carefully and with fewer messy shortcuts, especially for complex, multistep jobs.
Availability: In addition to Claude.ai and the Anthropic API, Claude 4 is also accessible via Amazon Bedrock and Google Cloud Vertex AI - and via our favorite aggregator OpenRouter.ai. There are also new API tools such as Code Execution, MCP, Files API and Prompt Caching for 1 hour.
Our take: What Claude 4 has to offer you
Claude 4 is a significant update, and it is particularly impressive when it comes to texts and code. For you, this means even more powerful tools to work more creatively, productively and simply smarter. But as always: benchmarks alone say little. The only benchmark that counts is how it works for you!
If you're wondering how to get the most out of Claude 4: With the right prompting techniques, of course (btw, System Prompt here)!
Define your role: "You're an experienced marketing copywriter..."
Give context: Provide all relevant background information.
Formulate a clear goal: "Write a post about X for target group Y with goal Z."
Specify format: "Answer in bullets", "Create a table", ...
Avoid negative instructions: Tell Claude what to do - not what NOT to do (e.g. "Write loosely" instead of "Don't write formally").
Be precise: Be super clear in your instructions! Use Anthropic's "Best Practices" for even finer results.
P.S. We had actually expected OpenAI to launch something media-effective this week to get back at Google. Instead, there was just a relatively weird video in which Sam and Jony Ive (ex-Apple star designer) rave about a new device ... which is probably very cool, since OpenAI paid a whopping 6.5 billion dollars for it and took over the company โฆ
๐ง New AI app is your perfect digital memory
We sometimes find that the days fly by at lightning speed, juggling countless tabs (countless!), PDFs and browser windows. And there are always moments like, "Which website did I see that statistic on again? Was that last week or a month ago?" ... and then the search begins.
Now imagine an AI assistant that not only executes your commands, but actually remembers EVERYTHING you've worked on - from searches to websites you've visited. Welcome to Pieces.app!
What can you do with it?
Your helper can remember every brilliant flash of inspiration, every useful website, every important text excerpt and every inspiring discovery without you having to rummage through countless digital notepads, bookmark folders and screenshot collections.

The app was actually intended for developers and also offers many features specifically for this target group. But us regular folks can also benefit, as the Long-Term Memory Agent records everything you work on - across your desktop, browser, documents and communication tools. The tool therefore acts as a digital memory of your entire daily workflow - very cool!
The best part? Pieces is currently free, and you can test it immediately - on Mac, Windows and Linux. You don't have to configure anything - just install it and let it run in the background.
1. Your personal work diary
The Workstream Activity feature offers you an elegant UI to interact with saved data from the past. You can always see exactly what you've been working on, which websites you've visited, which documents you've read and which notes you've taken. Pieces automatically records your digital activities and creates a searchable work diary (in English only).
This is the killer feature for us - because it simply runs in the background and logs everything cleanly! Over time, it builds up indispensable contextual knowledge.

2. Your personal AI co-pilot with long-term memory (LTM-2 engine)
Pieces also offers an integrated co-pilot that understands your work and research context. The heart of this is the long-term memory. It memorizes the "digital path" of stored materials and activities.
Use it to summarize content, have complex topics explained to you or develop ideas. You can narrow down by app or time period, and also add context (e.g. files, folders, code, โฆ).

4. Data protection in focus: 100% private on your device
Last but not least: the data can be processed and stored 100% offline locally - or in the cloud/hybrid, you decide. This means more control and privacy for personal notes and research.
For the record: Until now, we have used Rewind.ai - but the free version is unfortunately quite limited, and 29 dollars a month is a bit steep for the occasional use. ScreenMemory was also not quite as helpful as we expected. But if you are a Microsoft user, take a look at Recall ๐.
Our take: Pieces is your helpful assistant in the background
Pieces is probably not a tool you can't live without. But it's definitely one that makes you more productive and organized!
It's like your quiet, but clever AI buddy in the background - who springs into action as a second brain when you need it.
Think of it as your personal and automatic log for everything you do on the computer. Not only will you find what you're looking for faster, but you can also reflect on your digital habits. (For the record, we currently use Reflect.app for our proactive note taking)
Pieces comes close to the vision of an AI-powered hub that serves as your extended memory, respects your data sovereignty and records your web activities like a diary. We think it's pretty cool - what is your take?
๐ฅ AI video fun with Veo 3: "This is plastic..."
Wow! The new Veo 3 model from Google creates sounds as well as video. It looks and sounds like this โฆ impressive.
We made it! But no need to be sad. The AInauts will be back soon, with new stuff for you.
