🏆 OpenAI Report: What do top performers get out of ChatGPT?

Let's start with something easy. But, in our opinion, an important thought.

OpenAI has just published its "State of Enterprise AI" report. These are insights (anonymized, of course 😉) from over a million ChatGPT business accounts.

In addition, there is data from a survey.

In addition to the expected results, there were also some really exciting things.

First, let's look at the more normal findings (especially for AINAUTS):

• 75% of respondents say ChatGPT increases their speed and quality of work.

• On average, people save 40–60 minutes per day thanks to the AI bot.

• It offers the most advantages when writing, communicating, coding, researching, analyzing, and finally when working with images and media.

So far, so good. Sure, AI is great. We should all use it. Even at work.

But now let's move on to a chart that stuck in our minds:

What you see above is the difference in usage by category between median users and the top 5%.

The top 5% of performers use ChatGPT 11 times more than the median in the area of communication. Coding 17 times more. Analysis 10 times more.

This is the huge difference between normal users and power users. We just wanted to share this with you as a thought to end the week.

One last exciting finding:

That's exactly what inspires us time and time again. We are non-techies, marketers—and thanks to AI, we are able to program apps, understand contracts, and automate our lives.

Beautifully crazy. With that in mind: become an AI power user! It's worth it.

Sometimes it's difficult to keep track of all the tools offered by Google.

As you may know, there is Google Labs, where the company presents a wide variety of experiments in the form of cool AI tools.

There you will find various apps for all kinds of use cases. A while ago, we wrote about the marketing tool Pomelli, for example—it has just had a major update!

But there are also tools that allow you to virtually try on items from influencer photos and then shop for them (Doppl).

Or one that we would like to briefly introduce to you today because it has many exciting features.

Develop ideas, gather inspiration, and organize everything with Mixboard

Mixboard is a simple whiteboard tool where you can collect all kinds of files, from images to PDFs, texts, and more.

Design your own mood boards, collect all the information you need for projects, e.g., furnishing plans, decorations, product inspiration, and more.

With the power of AI, you can also create variations based on your collected inspirations and edit them as well.

As always with all Google Lab tools, they are available and can be used free of charge. But not in the EU, of course.

In other words, you need a VPN tool. Just connect to the US and you're done. We are big fans of Proton.

💭 Role prompting is dead!

Finally, here is an important update on prompt techniques.

As you may know, we have been promoting a simple formula for constructing your prompts (how you talk to the AI) for years.

The formula is: RAFT - Role, Action, Format, Tone

You are a B2B sales expert (R). Please create an overview of the best lead acquisition methods, including a brief explanation (A), in table form (F), and in a direct, concise manner (T).

The rolling element in particular has long been considered an important primer for chatbots. With increasingly powerful models, this seems to be changing, as a new study by Wharton College has found.

Accordingly, classic roles such as:

• You are the smartest lawyer in USA.

• You are a brilliant copywriter.

• …

... no longer has any real effect on the quality of the response. So you can save yourself the trouble from now on.

BUT:

That's not to say that personas no longer have a raison d'être. They remain an important contextual element.

To be honest, one of our favorite techniques is to have several AIs discuss with each other as different personas (more on that another time).

Just don't expect such general roles and personas as those above to yield the best results.

Our new rule is therefore:

Prompt engineering has long been part of a larger field: context engineering.

We need to provide the AI with all relevant information in order to get really good answers. Target groups, background information, format, tone, specific knowledge, etc.

We have written about this many times before, and for all AI POWER USERS and AI AUTOMATION EXPERTS: you will find a context engineering workshop in your training courses if you want to delve deeper into the topic.

For everyone else: Just move away from personas and toward target groups! This should have a positive effect on the quality of the AI's responses. Try it!
