Let's go!
👩💻 The most important things from OpenAI Dev Day

Let's start with the obligatory news. The OpenAI Dev Day for developers took place in San Francisco. We weren't invited, but of course we still have the most important updates for you (like the Fireside Chat with Sam).
Apart from a few other things, the most exciting announcement was the new Realtime API.
This means that it is now possible for everyone to build good speech-to-speech apps with low latency between responses. Very cool!
Why this is so exciting:
In the last issue, we wrote about ChatGPT's Advanced Voice Mode and how you can also use it in Europe.
The ingenious thing about this mode is not only the speed, but also its ability to understand emotions in the voice and react accordingly.
Speed and emotions are the decisive factors here.
We have often talked about customer service, apps etc. that call some place for you - such as the recent AI Haggler, which negotiates hotel prices.
So far, these apps have generally worked like this:
AI transcribes a voice input to text
Text goes to the language model
Language model provides the response as text
Response text is converted into speech using a text-to-speech model
When transcribing from speech to text, many nuances and emotions are naturally lost, and at the same time the individual steps take a long time.
The Realtime API now changes this. It is able to process the speech directly and respond directly by speech. Real speech-to-speech!
The ability to understand and express emotions and then respond quickly is the last hurdle that AI has had to replace entire call centers etc.
The new model is already available to all paid developers, here is a demo of OpenAI.

While we're on the subject of language: If you've been reading us for a while, you'll know that we're big fans of ElevenLabs.
For some time now, they have had an exciting app that allows you to listen to any kind of texts as audio on your phone (iPhone, Android).
The app is constantly evolving and getting better and better. And there has just been a major update, which is why we wanted to briefly introduce it here.
Our @elevenlabsio app gets a huge update! 🚀
- Audiobook creation flow for indie authors to directly publish to the app
- Content library with classic books, indie authors, and blogs you love
- New AI celebrity voicesIt’s time for a better Audible.

The ElevenLabs Reader app positions itself as a "better Audible". You already have access to a lot of content and can have them conveniently read to you.

You can also easily import any URL, text etc. In just a few minutes, it becomes an audio file that you can listen to directly.
You can also choose the voice, and there are even some celebrity voices included.

But the most exciting update for us concerns independent authors - or those who want to become one. You can apply with your book, using this form.
With a bit of luck, you will be accepted into the publisher program. You will not only immediately receive a very good audio version of your book but will also benefit from the exposure to the many users that the app already has.
We have also applied with the AInauts - let's see if it works out.
🤖 Work more productively & skip meetings with this AI tool

We know from feedback from the AInauts community that almost all of us are trying to use AI to become more efficient or reduce our workload in some way.
One of our favorite tools for this is LOOM!
It really saves us a lot of meetings! Because we work with people in three time zones, it's not always easy to find suitable dates.
And we don't even want that. We are big fans of asynchronous work.
With Loom, you can save a lot of time really quickly thanks to the now very good AI features. Here are two ways we use it:
1) Training new employees or delegating work
When someone new joins the team, or when we delegate tasks, we never hold meetings about it. We simply film ourselves doing the task.
Loom AI then creates a video, automatically names it, creates a transcript, chapters and a short summary.

It gets even more exciting. You can also document the process based on your video and have so-called SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) written. Or other types of documents.

It's really very simple - it only takes a few clicks, and the quality of the output is very good. This makes it very easy to systematize all processes in the company.
2) Use AI to automate processes directly
And we often go one step further: don't delegate, automate!
We film ourselves doing a task
Have Loom create transcripts & SOPs
Feed both to Claude or ChatGPT
And ask: How can I automate this with Zapier or Make?

Boom! And just like that, you have one less task on your to-do list. You can really use AI to "automate" yourself. We use Loom almost every day, and it helps us enormously - maybe this is something for you too?
We made it! But no need to be sad. The AInauts will be back soon, with new food for thought.
