🤫 Secret DALL-E 3 update delivers great results

Ok, so we always like to pick on ChatGPT or DALL-E a bit. Because the image quality is so-so.

But apparently there was a "secret" update. People are already talking about it on various forums, Discords and on X.

Of course, we immediately had to try it out, here is our experience (please note, that we tried it in German and English, since non-English languages are usually harder for the AI to figure out).

The version above is not quite perfect yet, as German speakers will notice.

But letters like Z etc., which used to be particularly difficult, now work better. And if you try often enough, you should get a version that is usable.

But just take a look at the English version of a comic book cover - it's pretty good, isn't it?

And for comparison, here is the German version - also not perfect with the text, but much better than before.

Conclusion: Cool update, but not yet perfect

We agree with the Redditors: DALL-E does indeed seem to have improved, especially when texts are included in the image.

English works impressively well, and it's slowly becoming an Ideogram alternative - and there are also other tools, as you can see in our comparison.

And with a little bit of prompting effort, you can also get other languages to work.

P.S.: In addition to ChatGPT, you can also use the Microsoft Copilot to create DALL-E images - it even generates four versions at once! Either via Edge Browser in the sidebar, or via the web at https://copilot.microsoft.com.

Important here: Choose "More Creative" or "More Precise", not "More Balanced". Otherwise, you will get text and no image.

Let's end the week with another impressive AI video update.

After we’ve already tested all the updates regarding LumaLabs on Monday (and have looked at KLING last week), another heavyweight is now entering the ring.

Runway presents the newest version of its own video model, called Gen-3.

The results? CRAZY!

Gen-3 Alpha has been completely retrained. Multimodal. In other words, with images and videos for maximum versatility.

This new model is said to be particularly good at generating realistic people, and it can also understand different artistic styles.

This offers great potential for really good and emotional videos. And as always with Runway, all the clever tools for editing your videos are also available.

Our take: This is why it's relevant!

It is becoming increasingly clear that AI models can understand our world and have a view of the world in their heads, so to speak. And this opens up countless new applications. Both positive and negative.

The more players with good models are in the market, the more competition is encouraged - and hopefully we should all benefit from this.

Runway is usually known for releasing things quickly and making them available. But we still have to be a little patient with Gen-3.

It is probably due to safety concerns. With such good realistic models, deceptively real deepfakes etc. can occur to create chaos and confusion.

We're still excited, of course, and can hardly wait to try it out. Until then, we'll keep playing around with LumaLabs.
