πŸ¦™ Zucks Meta Move: Llama 3 new on Meta.ai, Facebook, Insta, WhatsApp & Open Source!

Boom! We knew something was coming … but we weren't prepared for how hard it would hit!

MMA fighter and Meta CEO Zuck has not only presented a new gold chain, but also a latest-generation llama. Check out all details here.

The most important facts in a nutshell

Meta is integrating its new AI model Llama 3 into a standalone app at https://meta.ai and into the entire meta-universe, from WhatsApp to Instagram and Facebook - with Ray-Ban glasses and Quest headsets soon to follow. (No access yet? Use a VPN with US IP).

In plain language: The rollout will be gradual, but the new Meta Chatbot will very soon support the interaction of 3.6 billion (!) users worldwide.

For many people, this will be their first encounter with the world of AI. And Meta makes no compromises here, because the bot is being pushed for all users.

An open source model at GPT-4 level (almost)

Meta not only incorporates this into their own portfolio, but also makes the model freely available to the public. You can even install it locally.

Really cool - and actually, this is what OpenAI originally promised! Developers can download it here.

Llama 3 comes in three versions: 8B, 70B and 400B (still in training) and promptly asserts itself as the alpha among the open source models.

In the leaderboard of the β€œChatbot Arena”, the 70B version has already pushed ahead of Anthropic's Claude and Google's Gemini (at least in the β€œEnglish” category).

Did you know? You can let all chatbots compete against each other in the arena - and use them 100% free of charge!

The chatbot in a practical test - promising, but also pushes the limit …

The chatbot masters all common tasks (texting, programming, creating images, etc.) with ease.

A few features stand out:

  • Meta AI has access to the web, and you can get up-to-date information in real time, via Google and Bing connection! That's cool.

  • The output and interaction in languages other than English is still a bit bumpy.

  • Facebook, Instagram, or WhatsApp - Meta AI is with you along the way. You can search for information directly in your apps without having to leave them.

  • Not only can you create images, you can also customize and animate them superfast.

  • And if you start your chat on meta.ai with β€œImagine”, the images will be generated continuously while you are still typing.

  • Note: All images have a watermark (bottom left) and can currently be generated in square resolution, but not yet in very high resolution.

  • Meta emphasizes security and responsible use. So far, so good ... but we were a little surprised when we were able to generate Bart Simpson, SpongeBob or β€œthe president in a compromising situation”.

  • But that's not all: with the right jailbreak, illegal instructions for all sorts of things can also be extracted from meta.ai. Mr. Breaking Bad Walter White would have had some fun with this …

Our take: The most important milestone since ChatGPT!

With Llama 3, Meta is definitely setting a new standard for the integration and accessibility of AI. Therefore, this step marks a significant milestone not only for Meta, but for the entire humanity industry.

Zuck is democratizing AI technology and giving billions of users around the world access, regardless of their technical expertise.

While there are legitimate reservations, we find Meta's commitment very promising. And this is just the beginning …

And between you and me: OpenAI will certainly follow up very soon with GPT 4.5/5 to get some of the spotlight again. This will be really exciting! … until then you can listen to this interview.

πŸͺ’ AI quick tip: Organize your browser tabs

Question: What is this?

Answer: Exactly, our browser with 117 open tabs when we write a newsletter ...

There is a simple solution for more order and clarity - with two clicks you can group the tabs into suitable topics, thanks to AI:

The result: Thematically grouped tabs!

Spoiler: If the tabs are all on the same topic, you may still end up with 50 tabs in the same tab after organizing them …

But here is the prime example.

Next Step: Just try it out!

  • You can find instructions for Microsoft Edge here (Edge is the best AI-powered browser anyway, in our humble opinion - give it a try!),

  • details for Google Chrome here (not yet available in the EU, VPN?),

  • and instructions for other browsers here.πŸ“° AI-News-Quickie: The HAI-lights

πŸ‘“ AI devices: Mega update for Meta Smart Glasses

Ok, we need to talk about AI devices again. And therefore once again about Meta, as we did on Monday.

They are massively on fire! After the rollout of the Llama 3 model as an AI chatbot on WhatsApp, Instagram and meta.ai, the company's own smart glasses (in cooperation with RayBan) are next.

But let's go back to the beginning.

AI devices are a super exciting field with huge potential. In other words: small gadgets that become really useful thanks to the power of AI. But are they really useful already?

The much-hyped Humane AI Pin was destroyed by critics, the Rabbit R1 sold out after one day, and there is anticipation building for the Rewind.ai Limitless.ai device. They recently announced a pin that records everything you say (audio only).

We find the concept of a personal AI exciting. It hears and reads everything and is therefore very helpful. And if the data is as secure as promised, even better.

We ordered the Limitless Pin last October and hope that it will arrive soon, so we can report back to you in detail.

Back to Meta: they are now going one step further with the RayBan Smart Glasses. These cool glasses (in our opinion) can not only hear, but also see. And then understand the whole thing.

This results in a few really intriguing use cases:

  1. Ask questions about what you see

The Glasses respond to your requests or can take pictures with the camera and answer questions ("Hey Meta, what kind of butterfly is that?").

  1. Translate things you see

  1. Integrations in apps round off the whole thing

Further possibilities:

  • Take pictures and videos

  • Make calls with the integration to Messenger and Whatsapp

  • Listen to podcasts / music and still be aware of your surroundings

We are already enthusiastic users of Meta's smart glasses. Thanks to Llama, it's the first actually useful AI gadget for us (except for the smartphone, of course).

And the vision integration makes it a well-rounded product, because you don't always have to get your smartphone out of the pocket - the glasses are already on your nose. The fact that you can quickly and easily take a snapshot or a short video is also a killer feature.

It's really fun, and we never leave the house without it.

(Data protection is of course always rather concerning with Meta, but everyone has to decide for themselves. Most features are only available in the US and Canada, but should be rolled out gradually to other countries).

✍️ AI in everyday life: analyzing and evaluating ratings

Today, another example of how AI can be used in everyday life.

It is about using AI to analyze product reviews or user feedback.

What do we want to do?

For example, you have a software idea for an area where there is already a lot out there. How can you stand out from the crowd?

The first goal is to find out where the strengths and weaknesses of the individual players lie in order to achieve better positioning.

Of course, the whole thing also works with Amazon products or any online stores etc.

Or maybe you just want to take a closer look at your competitors …

The bottom line is that the process is the same.

Let's stay with the software example:

For example, you can use the Claude Meta Prompt Tool to write a prompt. Or you can take a look at the Prompt Library from Anthropic to see if there is a suitable one.

Slightly adapted, an example looks like this:

You are an AI assistant trained to divide user feedback into predefined categories and perform sentiment analysis for each category.

Your goal is to analyze each piece of feedback, assign the most relevant categories and determine the sentiment (positive, negative or neutral) assigned to each category based on the content of the feedback.

If you can't find anything, just write: No feedback

At the end, please summarize where the biggest advantages and problems lie according to the feedback.

Here are the predefined categories:

Product features and functionality
- Core functions
- Extensions and integrations
- Customization and configuration
- User experience and design

User friendliness
- Navigation and findability
- Visual design and aesthetics
- Accessibility
- Performance and reliability

Pricing model and levels
- Billing processes and invoicing
- License management
- Upgrades and renewals
- Security, compliance and data protection

Data protection and confidentiality
- Access control and authentication
- Regulatory compliance
- Incident response and monitoring
- Mobile and cross-platform compatibility

Functionality of the mobile app
- Synchronization and data consistency
- Responsive design
- Compatibility with devices and operating systems
- Third-party integrations and API

Integration functionality and reliability
- API documentation and support
- Customization and extensibility
- Induction, training and documentation

User guides and tutorials
- In-app instructions and tooltips
- Webinars and live training sessions
- Knowledge database and FAQs

You can of course change and improve this as you wish.

Now you just need the customer reviews of the products, tools, etc. that you want to analyze.

You can simply copy them manually into a table. Or take a screenshot of the page, as most AIs now understand images thanks to their Vision function.

Or you can go one step further and automatically scrape all reviews from the web!

One tool that we love to use for this is Bardeen. You can easily create such a scraper with it:

Bardeen then automatically pulls all the ratings and creates a table for you. This is particularly useful if you want to analyze many hundreds of ratings.

You could now build the next step of automation with Bardeen and send the results to Claude or OpenAI with the prompt.

However, this is only possible in the premium version from $10 per month.

We find this extremely helpful and use such kinds of workflows all the time.

See you soon with a fresh round of news, hacks and insights!
